Merry Christmas!

As is always this time of year, we reflect on the year that has flown by. We are both fortunate that our places of employment are doing well during these crazy economic times. Pete has been employed with Lockheed Martin for over 20 years now. And Mary, who never seems to stay in one place for more than 5 years, has been with Royston LLC for 10 years. When we are not working we stay busy with our many hobbies.

Mary continues to train both Bolo (our German Shepherd Dog) and Tasha (our Rottweiler). Both dogs are now 8 years old and Mary will no longer compete with them in the sport of Schutzhund where the obstacles can be physically demanding. So, training is kept all pretty low impact and just for fun.

Pete stays busy with his cars, guitars, and airplanes. He continues to tinker on his 1957& 1966 VW Beetles, as well as, his 1973 Type 181. He drives them whenever he can. He’s still collecting Lockheed aircraft memorabilia and aircraft parts; which make Mary think that an airplane will suddenly appear someday. He sold a couple guitars from his collection but bought others to replace them.

We continue to share the love of travel. This year we’ve added quite a few more international flags to the map.

You may recall from last year’s letter that we were planning to visit the country of Tunisia at the end of December. At the time we actually had to tell people where Tunisia was located; now with the events earlier this year, most people know exactly where we were. To think that while we toured thru the historic ruins of Carthage and many Roman sites, a Tunisian had started the historic event known as the Arab Spring. Our tour was wonderful, the people that we met were amazing and we did get to experience a culture unlike our own. To see a photo journal of our tour visit: http://www.clukey.phanfare.com/4961460

In July we went to Panama to see the canal and spend some time visiting with a friend who retired leaving the rat race here in the USA, moved there and built a house on a beautiful Panamanian Caribbean bay. We had a tough time coming back from that trip. http://www.clukey.phanfare.com/5193802

So, here we are counting down the end of 2011, and this letter, as well as, the Christmas cards are being mailed later than usual… that’s because we just got back from… you guessed it… vacation. We spent Thanksgiving in India. We haven’t begun processing all those photos; they probably will be up on our site sometime around the end of January. We had another great adventure with the tour company Overseas Adventure Travels visiting the cities/areas of Delhi, Jaipur, Ranthambore, Agra, Khajuraho, and Varanasi. Of course we saw the Taj Mahal; we also took a balloon ride and a camel ride; lost track of how many temples we visited; floated on the river Ganges; went on a tiger (photo) safari and somehow we did NOT get Delhi-Belly. Here is one photo of that trip:

As always, you can keep up with our adventures through our website: www.clukey.com. We add new pictures to our photo album monthly, if not almost weekly. We have a blog, and while we don’t quite update it daily or even monthly, we do post to it occasionally. Pete is really good at keeping up with friends on facebook. Mary does have a facebook account, but isn’t nearly as active on it as Pete is.

Wishing you all the best of health and happiness in the coming New Year, have a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year!

We would love to hear from you…
